AUXILIARY PROJECTIONS (CONT’D)

AUXILIARY PROJECTIONS (CONT’D)

AUXILIARY PLAN OF A TRUNCATED HEXAGONAL PYRAMID ( FRUSTUM OF A PYRAMID)

Procedure

  1. Draw the front elevation and project the sectional plan.
  2. From each corner on the plan, project lines vertically upward to touch the base AB and horizontally to touch a side vertical line at 0, 1,2 and 3.
  3. Join each point on AB to the apex C.
  4. From each point on AB and plane X-X, project lines in the direction of the arrow.
  5. Transfer the centre line O-O to the projections at any convenient point.
  6. Transfer the length 0-1, 0-2, and 0-3.
  7. Trace the points of intersection of corresponding lines from points 0,1,2 and 3 and mark out the auxiliary plan.

SECOND AUXILIARY ELEVATIONS

Second auxiliary elevations are projected from first auxiliary plans. The first auxiliary plan view is first drawn and projections from points on this view are drawn parallel to the direction of viewing and crossing the new datum(X2Y2) at right angles.
It is important to realise that the original plan view is not required in the projection of the second auxiliary elevation.

SECOND AUXILIARY PLAN VIEWS

These views are projected from first auxiliary elevations.
