Topic Binary Number System

The binary number system has two digits namely: 0 and 1.

All binary numbers are made up of two digits and their values increases from right to left.

They can be expressed as a sum of multiplies of power of two.

For example

a)1001 two = 1 × + 0 × + 0 × + 1 ×

= 1 × 8 + 0 × 4 + 0 × 2 + 1 × 1

= 8 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 9

b)1110 two = 1 × + 1 × + 1 × + 0 ×

= 1 × 8 + 1 × 4 + 1 × 2 + 0 × 1

= 8 + 4 + 2 + 0 = 14
