Characteristics of physical development of children at Pre-adolescent stage

A child who is about ten years old starts developing a new way of life. The body grows in special ways and the child starts behaving more like an adult.

Some of the characteristics of physical development of children at pre-adolescent stage

 i ) Height: Growth rate increase in children as from ten years of age. At this stage girls grow taller than boys, but girls stop growing earlier than boys.

 ii ) Weight:  Weight increases in boys and girls almost at the same rate. However, boys have more weight than girls up to the age of ten.

iii) Hair: Girls have growth hair in pubic areas of the body. Earlier than boys

iv ) Changes in voice: Boys experience earlier change in voice in their voice than girls.

As boys grows up, the voice becomes louder while that of the girls becomes solemn and thin

v)  Physical maturity: A few girls develop faster than boys into a stage called puberty. Puberty is a sign of maturity. It takes a longer time for boys to show sign of physical maturity. At the age of eighteen, most girls are fully mature, but most boys are not.

Puberty is the stage of development when a child changes physically into an adult.
