Human Trafficking is an act of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring or receiving a person through the use of force, coercion or other means for the purpose of exploiting them.
Human Trafficking is the trading in humans basically for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labour, sexual exploitation or other illegal activities.
Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Every country in the world is affected by trafficking.

CAUSES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Lack of employment opportunity- inability of youngsters to secure gainful employment in their home land (Country) creates the desire for overseas travelling which usually ends in forced labour, sexual exploitation and other negative activities.
Poverty- poverty is a major reason why parents sell their children for the purpose of meeting family financial needs. Girls and children are the usual victims of this.
Low self-esteem – the second class mind set and worthy attitude towards oneself causes people to engage in slavery work.
Illiteracy:- Lack of adequate knowledge of the implications of human trafficking to the society especially by parents who trade their children is a major reason for this menace.
Greed:- The strong desire for quick riches at the expense of other innocent people has contributed to the trafficking of persons.
REASONS FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Sexual exploitation:- sexual slavery is a common reason for human trafficking especially in women and adolescent girls.
Forced labour:- Like slave trade, human trafficking is done to use humans for forced and unpaid labour. This is common in child labour where a child is used for hard labour above his or her age.
Slavery and servitude:- Slavery is still in practice today in disguise as trafficking in persons. Humans are exchanged for money for the purpose of slavery.
Removal of organs:- Trafficking in persons is carried out for extraction of organs and for surrogacy. Surrogacy is when a woman carries and delivers a child or children for another coupe or person.
Commercial sexual exploitation:- This is the use of women or ladies for sexual business for the traffickers financial benefits.
