PLANE FIGURES AND THEIR PROPERTIES
(a) Parallelogram is a quadrilateral which has opposite sides parallel i.e. the opposite sides cannot meet.
Features of parallelogram
(1) It has four sides and four angles.
(2) Opposite sides are parallel
(3) Opposite angles are equal
(4) Opposite sides are equal
(5) The diagonals bisect each other
(6) Consecutive angles are supplementary (add up to 1800)
(b) Rhombus is a quadrilateral which has all four sides equal in length.
Features of rhombus
(1) All four sides are equal
(2) It has two lines of symmetry
(3) Opposite angles are equal
(4) It’s diagonals intersect at right angle i.e. 900
(5) The diagonals cross at the Centre.
(C) Kite is a quadrilateral in which one diagonal is a line of symmetry
Features of kite
(1) It has four sides and four angles.
(2) Opposite sides are equal.
(3) One set of opposite angles are equal.
(4) It has only one line of symmetry.
(5) It has two diagonals but they do not meet at the centre.
